Boat Access

Any part of the Property’s coastline and a few of the coastal lagoons can be easily accessed by boat, either from Sarteneja (32km from the Property’s northern border), San Pedro (18.5km from the Property’s coastal road), Bomba Village (23km from the Property’s southern border), or Belize City (64km from the Property’s southern border).

Road Access

The Property can be accessed by all-weather marl roadway, either from the southwest (off the Old Northern Highway and through Bomba) or from the northwest (through the Mennonite community of Little Belize), and via a 4X4 trail from the North (through Fireburn Village near the Shipstern Nature Reserve).

All of the major road systems on the Property are wide enough for 2 way traffic and provide all-weather access for almost any vehicle. In the interests of preventing uncontrolled access, impressive hardwood gates have been constructed at each of the primary access points.

Primary Access Points

  1. Bomba: This road, running northwards from Bomba, off the Old Northern Highway, provides access to the Property in approximately (1) hour from Philip Goldson International Airport (BZE) in Ladyville (64 km). The road enters the Property on the southwest side of the southern boundary, providing a direct link to the coastal road and over 48+km of roadway that has been constructed on the Property over the last 4 years.

  2. Little Belize: The road accesses the Property in the Northwest through Little Belize and serves as a main artery to all existing roadway, including direct linkage to the Coastal Road and Bomba Road. This entry is located approximately 41 km drive from Orange Walk Town.

Secondary Access Point

  1. Fireburn Road: Since this roadway is found within the Northern Biological Corridor area, the road has only been cleared to maintain passability but no upgrades or additional clearing/dumping has taken place in order to preserve the natural environment. The road is maintained as a 4X4 track for mainly patrol and protection of the Property’s northern regions.

The Coastal Road

Both the roadway that extends on to the Property from the Little Belize and Bomba access points link up to the Coastal roadway, which traverses west to east across the property through the Southern Bulkhead region. After completing an Environmental Impact Assessment of proposed roadway, the routing of the coastal road was recommended as being the shortest route over the driest ground, avoiding the most environmentally sensitive areas.

Coastal access has made development of this region of the Property an immediate possibility.
